Glo Germ Kit (WA19099)

Glo Germ™ stands out as the preferred training medium by virtually anyone who teaches proper hand washing techniques or food safety compliance.

Nearly invisible in ordinary light, Glo Germ™ (fluorescent plastic particles) glows under ultraviolet light.

To use the Glo Germ™ Oil, shake well, then place a small amount of the oil in the palm of one hand and rub both hands together like applying hand lotion. Scrape your fingernails over the palms of your hands to simulate germs under the nails and then check the results by turning off the lights and placing your hands under the UV lamp. After thoroughly washing your hands, turn off the lights and again place the UV lamp over the hands. The “germs” are easily detected under the UV lamp. This graphic illustration shows where bacteria can hide and reveals areas most often missed in hand washing.

The Glo Germ™ Powder can also be used to demonstrate cross contamination and surface cleaning. Just sprinkle the powder over the surface to be tested, smearing the powder into creases and corners. Turn off the lights and check the surfaces using the UV lamp. Clean the surfaces “infected” as normal and check using the UV lamp once more. This technique can also be used to check gowning, masking, and gloving procedures for cross contamination.
